Today, I am overwhelmed by the goodness of God! The tears won't stop, as I stare at the BIG red bow on the gift that God has given to our entire family. Not just the Jackson 6, but all of our family and extended family.
In December, my Dad was in the hospital and things were really tough. Mike and I had been on a journey of asking God what all He wanted from us. Our good friend Cliff Sparks had given us a word from The Lord and we believed it. Part of it was to stay in agreement and watch the blessings overflow. He gave us several "things" for us to agree on and believe for, and told us not to budge on what He said. We looked around us and knew that things were going to get uncomfortable when we said "yes".
Uncomfortable is fine, but with 4 kids under our care it was a big step of faith. For Mike especially, since He is the ONLY breadwinner in the family.
Whatever.... We were raised in a family where faith in Christ is the best place to be..... Then we jumped! We were ready for the adventure!
Then Daddy went to meet the King. That was the uncomfortable part! The sad part! The bummer part! The worst part! Yet, through each step God has been faithful to us. His life has richly blessed us all. His seed is blessed!!!! Everything about him God calls good.
Right before Dad passed away, Mike and I decided to look at this house one more time. We liked it, but I was not sure it was ours. Gosh, it had no dining room and was a MUST for a house full of little women. The price was great and the yard was amazing! Custom built and nice neighbors. :)
We put in an offer and it was accepted. Dad looked at every single picture and gave us the thumbs up. Mom said he asked to look at the pics again and later told me that he really liked it. That blessed me.
I was fully aware that at any moment the whole offer could fall through and it would be over. Well, the process was crazy long, but God had told us to not budge on several areas of getting the house. We thought maybe the time was just not right or maybe it was and we were to stand. We circle the house sometimes 2-3 times a day praying and asking God to make the path straight. We only want what God wants for us! Nothing more, even if it meant to live "uncomfortable" for a season.
We were super blessed already that God had opened all the doors for mom and dad to build in Bastrop. Miracle #1! We were able to move in with Mom and it was nice. Not uncomfortable at all! God is so faithful!
As we were praying, God gave me a verse. I knew the house was OURS! It was GOD and the circling around the house became a daily event. We claimed that house.
"See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.” (Deuteronomy 1:8 NIV)
We circled many days. 2 months to be exact! Our girls prayed, our moms prayed, our friends prayed, our agent prayed, and our neighbors prayed.....
In the whole process of waiting, God blessed us with some of the craziest and wildest "things" that we asked God for! We asked God, but never dreamed that after they said "no", that they would come back and say "yes". :)
Our agents were shocked, our title company was shocked, and we were SHOCKED! God is faithful!
The last thing I asked God was that the owners would leave the super fun pots that we did NOT ask for in the contract. It would have been fine if they took them, but they were so fun. Oh, and the rug at the front door. :) They had asked in the contract if they could come the day after closing and gather their personal items as they had already moved to a new town. We had planned a weekend trip and would be gone, so we said "go for it".
We drove in from our weekend trip and went straight to the new house to get our keys and see if they left the pots and mat. :)
Some of the pots were there, and the mat was there. Oh my, how God loves me! I called my mom and mom-in-law and told then how excited I was.... Not only did they leave those items, they left an entire shed full of gardening items. Oh, how God loves me! How did HE know I LOVE watering cans?! God threw sprinkles all OVER my cake! God is faithful!
I had NO idea that God was about to bless me like CRAZY! We played in the yard for about 30 minutes with Randy and Emily and the dogs. We went in the house and I started looking through the binder that the sellers left for us on the counter. I pulled out the paper about the blinds that had been installed and I pulled this out.
I immediately started crying! My entire house had Evans Cabinet & Doors! We had NO idea. I knew they were custom, and had even mentioned to Mike that at some point I would had Evans do new doors for me, so I could have something of Dad's heart.
I cannot even tell you what I felt like at that moment! I felt like God had blessed me more than I could have ever hope, dreamed, or imagined. I cannot stop the tears. God loves me and my family so much. Only God could surprise me like this. Who saves their packing slip for their cabinets along? We are the 3 rd owner and I am so happy and blessed that both previous owners kept it! Thanks Jesus!
One last fun thing: Mom went to the cabinet shop and told them about the discovery. They told is that they have not done very many homes in the Colony. This one was actually one of the few! Now, tell me that this house was not made for us! :)
